I’m delighted to announce that I have been awarded a judges mention in the 2019 Kennel Club Dog Photographer of the year awards. The image that won the mention was entered into the Assistance Dogs category and is of local dog Abraham, a trained Therapet. There are 7000 entries from over 70 countries into the competition, widely accepted to be the most prestigious dog photography competition around.

I took the image whilst Abe was on duty at Riverside House sheltered living in Peebles. He goes once a month to see the residents bringing a chance for some canine love and interaction. He is described by his owners Amanda and Tara as being part Cairn Terrier, part Brillo pad and was himself rescued from Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home as a 6 month old puppy.

It’s the icing on the cake for what has been a crazy first year of Fetch and Flash and it’s not over yet….I still get to visit the Kennel Club HQ in October to collect the award, very exciting!

I’d like to extend congratulations to all the winners, some truly stunning images on show and I recommend you go take a look at the full gallery. Of course my heart felt thanks to Abraham, Amanda, Tara and the residents of Riverside House in Peebles, thank you so much for having me along to take the image.
