Join the Scent Club

Valley Dog’s Scent Club has sessions on a Thursday night (7pm Traquair Village Hall) and Saturday morning (10am - various local locations) and covers all aspects of scent work in an accessible and fun way for your dog. Any dog can take part as search and exercises will be tailored to the level the dog and handler team are working at. After you have done a one off introduction you can opt in for 2, 4 or unlimited sessions per month. There will be regular fun events as part of the club and the chance to work towards UK Scentwork titles from mid 2024 if that’s your bag. Classes will remain fun at all times!

FAQs

  • Yes - dog’s that need space can be accommodated.

  • Not directly as part of the sessions but we will have fun themed classes on a regular basis for you to test your skills.

    The classes will prepare you to take part in scent work trials if you choose to be competitive.

  • No. One item made of red Kong rubber will be all you need to practice at home. Your dog can wear their normal collar, harness and lead for everything else.

    However, if you want to get geeky there is plenty of scope to build your own scent work kit!

  • Thursday classes are at Traquair Village Hall and Saturday Mornings will vary but will always be in the Peebles area

  • The classes themselves run on a rolling basis and there are a few skills you need to get started. It’s easiest to make sure you are all set up on a 121 basis before you hit class so you can get the most out of it.

  • The sessions are on a use them or lose the basis month to month. With a total of 8 available every month you will have ample opportunity to use your sessions up.
