Studio Shoots

A studio shoot is about making your pet the centre of attention, using beautiful lighting and backgrounds to bring out their personality and show them off to the world. The session itself will take place in my studio in Peebles in the Scottish Borders, an easy journey from Edinburgh and Lothian. The studio is a converted barn at my home and provides us with plenty of space and comfort for you and your pet to relax.

The sessions are easy going and go at the pace set by your dog or pet, there’s no clock in the studio, it takes as long as it takes. With patience, perseverance, squeakers, treats and lot’s of love we can be sure to capture your pet’s personality.

How it works

  • Book your session at a time convenient to you.

  • Tell me all about your pet, are they super energetic or a little shy? This helps me plan and make sure I get the best results for you.

  • Come down to the studio and have your shoot, no time pressure I aim for a fun and relaxed experience for all.

  • I fully edit and present your images so you can see what they will really look like printed up.

  • You come down to the studio for your personal slide show and choose your artwork or print collection, I’m here to help and advise as much or as little as you need. There’s no pushy sales tactics, no pressure to buy on the day or in fact at all if you choose not too.

  • Come and collect your beautiful new artwork!

My dog will NEVER stay still!

If you have a perfectly trained gun dog or agility champion then brilliant, but most family pets are just like the rest of us. We know what we should be doing (like not eating the chocolate in my case), but can’t always be relied on to do it.

The dogs that come to the studio are friendly, loved pets who want to say hi and have fun and that’s just fine. I’ve worked with all sorts of dogs, those that have a good sit stay command and those that don’t but I find that with some time, often a few treats and my selection of squeakers we always get the shot. A camera’s shutter takes a picture in much less than a second, less than a blink of eye in fact and that’s all I need. It’s my job to be ready and to know when that fraction of a second is, plus I have a lot of patience, like I mean a lot which is all it takes.

Cat managed to capture the most stunning images of our dogs! An expert at distracting our boisterous 6 month old puppy, and getting them both to sit still. Thank you so much, love the pictures!! - Karen mum to Rosa and Luca
